AN OVERVIEW OF HEALTH AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT IN ECTDA
Environmental Health and Safety Department is mainly a policing department for the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Health, Enugu State waste management Authority and the three Local Government Area that made up Capital territory namely: Enugu North, Enugu-South, and Enugu East. The job we do is those of Environmental health and safety jobs agencies supposed to mortgage tendencies.
JOB SCHEDULE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1.Overseeing that the capital territory is free filth and dirt.
2.Monitoring of water ways as the public always build on it.
3.Making sure that the public and some landlords discharge their effluents from their sanitary conveniences into the water bodies.
4.Making sure that all industries, schools, hospitals, hotels, filling stations, adhere to approved health and safety standards.
5.Monitoring of noise nuisances enacted by some religious churches within the town with their speakers, besides determine their purpose clause in terms of Allocation of their plots.
6.Burial of paupers (unidentified corpse). Unfortunately, the state now have no approved burial ground in the Capital Territory and even trained burial ground. Health attendants for the work are no longer there, thus making it very difficult to bury the unidentified corpse these days, abattoir inspection is equally our duty, and inspection of meat shops and public drainage and even contravene the law by building on top of them.
